In defense of Hinata and NaruHina

Post by Strawberry on Thu May 16, 2013 7:06 am

It bugs me every time I hear NarSak saying Hinata doesn't deserve Naruto, because she didn't become his friend when they were in the academy. Does NarSak forget that Sakura didn't either? That in fact, she, along with everyone else, treated him like crap?

"Oh, but Hinata knew Naruto was alone, she said it herself!" Umm, Sakura ALSO knew Naruto was alone. She told Sasuke he was annoying and misbehaved because he was alone and had no parents. And somehow, Sakura gets excused but Hinata doesn't.

Not to mention, we know Hinata tried, at least once, to approach Naruto in some way.

But apparently, that's not enough. Because being shy, is not an excuse. But being ignorant and immature (like in Sakura's case) is a good enough excuse. Ridiculous.

NarSak makes such a huge deal about character development, yet likes to completely disregard Hinata's character development. Because it doesn't matter if she changed, she's been there for Naruto (and he's acknowledged it) and approached him to become his friend; apparently Naruto has to overlook ALL of that, and hold a grudge against her for not being his friend in the academy. Amazing logic, isn't it?

Now, I'm not saying I hold anything against Sakura for how she used to behave. Not at all, that is NOT the purpose of this thread. I like how Sakura's changed and matured throughout the series. I just want to point out Hinata's character development as well, and how saying "she doesn't deserve Naruto" for something that happened long ago, and she changed about herself, is hypocritical.

Have any of you guys had this "argument" thrown at you? What was your response? Discuss.

This argument really gets on my nerves. She doesn't deserve him? She's loved him through everything. Even when people made him an outcast, she still looked up to him and wanted to be closer. I don't see how this is even an argument.

Well the funny thing is I was thinking of making a thread like this yesterday, but I was busy with Uni assignments. My response to your question is I agree with you on that if we look at these examples of how Hinata had developed as a character we begin to see how her character has developed. in this moment she was in her shell but it was clear where her affections are.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v05/c042/5.html

in this next one we begin to see more of what Hinata realizes, she shows more signs of standing up for herself, she shows more fight even against a better fighter than her, but then again when it comes to fighting for Naruto she has pretty much been the underdog.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v09/c080/7.html

in this moment she opens up to him, and he for the first time opens up about his insecurities, that is something he has never done before, not even for Iruka, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi. as he said he only acted tough because he was frustrated because he always failed.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v11/c098/11.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v11/c098/12.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v11/c098/13.html

hey do I see Naruto blushing here? oh wait there is one more thing about this moment that sets it apart from the rest of the previous NaruHina moments. she was able to give Naruto courage when he was feeling down, to me that shows great understanding, yes she is still in her shell but she still managed to give Naruto the will to fight her cousin. he also said 'a person like you, I really like,' well that pretty much is development on both parties there.

now we don't really see much for the rest of part one, Hinata faints when Naruto is inches away but we can skip that and show Hinata three years later. in this moment we see that Hinata's love for Naruto hasn't diminished.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v32/c282/19.html

as we all know Hinata was a shy and timid girl when it came to talking to Naruto, but as the series progress she seems to have come out of her shell and is able to tell Naruto how she feels, what's on her mind even in the more recent chapters, this moment shows us how far she has come as a character, jumping into a fight she had 0% chance of winning but she did it anyway because she knew she was going to die but not without telling Naruto that she loves him.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c437/8.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c437/9.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c437/10.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c437/11.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c437/12.html

well that was a heartfelt confession, if we look at Naruto eyes in that entire confession we find that he was taking it all in. a lot of NS fans say that he has all but forgotten the confession, that he never acknowledged it directly to Hinata. well here is the indirect acknowledgement for us to look at.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c441/ did you all notice that Hinata was sole focus on this chapter (wait we all knew)

oh back to the topic 1. http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v47/c441/6.html
2. http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v52/c490/14.html
3. http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v59/c559/6.html

the page before that Hinata stands up for Naruto when everyone was doubting if it was him or not, with a special moment between the two characters.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v59/c559/5.html
http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v59/c559/6.html

for the first time Hinata was feeling down, this time Naruto cheered her up and supported her giving her courage to fight and to set her path in C573 in stone, to walk with Naruto hand in hand after the war (foreshadowing much?)

now this next moment was massive when it comes to Hinata, but she achieved it a little early.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v60/c615/9.html

well that's a new development here, I just love how NS fans say that this is a anti NH moment when it clearly isn't, this moment shows us how much more she has developed as a character, then they consider Sakura punching the living shit out of Naruto a pro NS moment that's just hypocritical in my opinion. there is a long speech and then we get this.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v60/c615/18.html

a great emphasise on Naruto taking Hinata's hand and putting her into the group of people that have helped Naruto on his path.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v60/c615/19.html

then there is this moment, of her development as a character.

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/naruto/v63/c629/10.html

on the front lines fighting to defend Naruto and Sakura, showing courage and taking the lead, she sure has come a long way from being a shy, dark, timid weirdo, to now taking the lead, that is amazing character development and NaruHina development, it was like it was hand in hand like in chapter 615. my guess is there is more important developments on the way but I think we will need to wait for them to happen.

Exactly. It's the same for me. Hinata was one of the very few people who looked at Naruto for who he was since the very beginning, and never misjudged him nor treated him badly. Her shyness held her back, but she's already overcome that. The people who say she "doesn't deserve him" because she didn't become his friend sooner, are just hoping Naruto will hold a stupid grudge against her for that. Needless to say, they will be disappointed. ;)

I hate it when Hinata haters call her a stalker! She watched him because he inspired her and
Kishi did that so he could show what effect Naruto had on her.
They call Hinata a slut too because of this big crush she had on him, but I think personally she didn't even know she had a crush on him, she really admired and respected him and probably didn't even know until she actually confessed.
It just made all types of mad.. I mangradraged!

Most of the people that say that crap are either biased about NaruSaku to the point that they overlook Hinata's development as a character, one of the best is that since Sakura gets more screen time there are more NS hints than NaruHina hints, that is true but it's quality over quantity when it comes to this sort of stuff we all know that. Also she didn't really know that she was in love with Naruto until she fought Neji, when she was asking herself why when she looked at Naruto that she was feeling like she was getting stronger and why she felt like she was worth something when Naruto cheered her on.

Even though Hinata does have her faults, those faults show a more genuine character which is what NaruSaku fans overlook. Hinata isn't really portrayed as an overly strong character, she started out a weak character, low on self-esteem and a really gentle character. to me there is nothing wrong with that because I find that we will see her coming out of her shell as the story progresses and that has happened a fair bit in the recent chapters, we have seen Hinata really showing more confidence and showing that she is able to hold her own ground in a fight while maintaining her gentle characteristics.

The best thing to do with people like that is to ignore them.

About Hinata being a "stalker", that's obviously one of the many attempts NarSak does to try and make her look like a bad character. There is a HUGE difference between a stalker, who is someone who follows another person around wherever they go, and being too shy to show your face when you come across the one person you admire the most. Hinata obviously is the latter.

She wasn't shown following Naruto around, nor watching him doing something she shouldn't be watching him do. All we saw was a girl who was too shy and too self-conscious to show her face when she bumped into Naruto. That's not stalking.

Besides, she already overcame her shyness, and has come a long way.

They're just desperate, if they find ANY itsy-bitsy tiny evidence they wave it around even if it's of little significance or meaning.
631, even though the NS moment didn't mean anything, good for them, I'm glad, I'll let them be happy... For now~

^I think you will find that it's mostly the die hard NS that are waving this tiny bit of evidence around, you will find that NS fans with half a brain knows that this didn't really constitute as an NS moment, like a few have said including me let them be happy for now, they will soon be burnt in the next few chapters

I don't mind the NS fans that actually think before talking, don't bash characters, and they actually give facts instead of rambling on about how much better their pairing is and not making any sense.

I have seen die hard fans do that so many times, they mostly bash Hinata and NaruHina and they go on and bash Sasuke, I mean the only reason why NS even had a chance to be something was because of Sasuke. but as I stated the really bad NS fans make the really good NS fans look bad because they talk before they even think, like I have seen NS fans admit that NaruHina is in a better position and would even have a go at the die hard fans because they usually talk so much shit, which is really sad. but then again the die hard NaruHina fans aren't much better either, they were expecting Naruto to hold Hinata's hand while still fighting three deadly enemies which is them talking before they thought about the situation.

Seriously. That annoyed me so much at the time when I had to spend time explaining why expecting Naruto & Hinata to hold hands "forever" or to defeat Juubi by themselves made no sense. ;_;

The die hard fans are the problem in my opinion and it's for both pairings NaruSaku and NaruHina, most of the die hard fans are the biggest idiots around, they only think of the pairing and not the story. sure the pairing is great but I believe the story should take priority over who is paired with who, we can support NaruHina but we need to think logically about what is going on around to make a careful judgement based on if it is right for them to hold hands while fighting these three enemies.

the die hard fans are the ones that are the most difficult to explain things to.

I find that people that only watch the anime and haven't even looked at the manga are the ones that usually dislike Hinata. Some of the fillers over exaggerate her shyness, even though it's just for comedy it makes people dislike her.

Yeah I agree with you there, but I was so confused as to why people were like that towards Hinata (not everybody but you get the idea). So she's shy, why bash her for that? I mean there are real people out there in real life who are shy too (me included). Kinda makes me sad a little bit

Re: In defense of Hinata and NaruHina

Post by Mustang on Sun Jun 02, 2013 2:18 pm

People will hate for shallow reasons, they forget to look at her character development which I personally find annoying, they need to remember that Hinata's development ties in with NaruHina. because of Naruto influence she has become more confident, she has gained acknowledgement from her family, she finally gained the courage to confess her love to Naruto, (that was the turning point for NaruHina) she has fought in a war to defend her friends and family, but most of all to protect Naruto.

after Neji's death she was able to pull herself together and to bring Naruto back to his sense, and now she is leading from the front. so I say her character has developed really well.

As for NaruHina, well as I said the pairing ties in with Hinata's development, since her motivation to be acknowledged is influenced by Naruto, during this whole war we have seen some really amazing moments between the two of them. the it's in your eyes moment, the entirety of chapter 615, it just shows us how far that not only Hinata come but NaruHina as well. there will be a moment in the not too distant future but I still think we need to wait for it.

Guys, don't hate me for sharing this but this got me pissed.. I don't care if people hate on my ship, I honestly do not care. But don't you dare call my Hinata greedy! She is probably the most selfless person in the manga! How can she be greedy?
This person is misunderstanding Hinata's character completely.

"Hinata.
Another girl who "understands what she gets, but always desires more." She also doesn't appreciate stuff, but not because she can't, but rather because she is greedy. She wants more. Once isn't enough. Reminds of the man who pleads to God for something finer, bargaining for even a moment, and when finally give wants more than what she bargained for. Nothing is good enough until she gets exactly what she wants...and what she wants keeps changing. Little does she realize, she is greedy. Unlike Sakura who understands the situations, she is too busy into what she wants that she ignores the reality that she lives in for the fantasy she creates. She is not a bad person, but rather is just too greedy to notice anything beyond what she wants to see."

And also here I have their thoughts on NaruHina

"NaruHina
A pairing built on greed. This is different than self-satisfaction. Unlike self-satisfaction, greed can have emotions and caring. Doesn't mean you aren't greedy. It just means you're narrow minded. It is all about this and nothing else matters. So is Hinata. A very narrow-minded girl who sole ideals are based around her love for Naruto. His nindo, his lifestyle, his motivation, and vision. Yet, she never notices his desires. She never built her own either. His goals are her goals. His way of life is her way of life. She is like a mirror and just reflects who ever she points at. Unfortunitly, she is a cloudy mirror and never reflects the light that shines on her. She never appreciates the moments when Naruto actually pays attention to her and desires more. "I want to confess. I want to tell him." She did and it wasn't enough. "I want to be seen as strong." Naruto says she is and it still wasn't enough. "I want to hold his hand and walk beside him." And still, it isn't enough. (Again, arguably, people will say the last one is a different case, but I am waiting to see how she truly takes such a thing. So for now, I'll remain constant.) Greed."

Guys, I don't care about this NH one up there^^^

I ONLY CARE ABOUT THEM CALLING HINATA GREEDY. I mean what the hell. Seriously. They are totally and completely misunderstanding Hinata big time.

Here is one about us/NH fans, surprisingly enough, this didn't get me mad. I was actually interested. I mean sure there isn't anything pleasant or right written, but I still found it interesting how they view NH fans.

"NaruHina fans.
How to explain this one? "Kishi, we want Hinata to express how she feels to Naruto." Chapter 437 happens and Naruto shows no response to it other than her "dying." "I want more. Now I want Naruto to see Hinata's strength" Chapter 559 Naruto saves Hinata and says to her "Don't be so hard on yourself. You're strong too." "Now I want Naruto to acknowledge Hinata now and I want Hinata to get her wish to hold his hand." Chapter 615 got exactly that. Naruto acknowledged her and held her hand exactly how she wanted. It lead to nothing. "Waaaah, I want more." All the while ignoring Naruto's love for Sakura, ignoring Sakura changing development, and ignoring everything that has happened in the manga. Instead of appreciating all the moments that NaruHina does get, they whine and desire more. Also sound familiar? Nothing is ever satisfactory and nothing else matters. It is all about Hinata and her desires, never about anyone else. Naruto? Who cares what he wants, we care not. We just want Hinata because she deserves it. Hinata may seem good on the outside and her personality is shy and kind, but reality is she is very greedy. A sour among the sweet."

Now that is far from true there. "It" adds things that are not consistent with the whole situation, but it is just better to ignore and let NS say what it wants though.
