Kishimoto's 'Mario'

Post by NekoKimio on Mon Apr 29, 2013 6:12 am

If you haven't read it, the link is here.

So, for a oneshot, it was pretty good. I liked it. It shows that Kishi can grasp the concept of romance. ;)
It was mostly just shooting, but nonetheless I did enjoy reading it and seeing something other than Naruto in Kishi's style.

I'm off to read it right now! :3

It was soooo sad. Saori looks like a SasuHina baby. Me like.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't like the story too much. Maybe if this had been an actual series instead of a oneshot, I would have been able to get attached to the characters and appreciate them more, but as it is I didn't care about them at all. Mario was pretty much just some scumbag and Saori was a girl with no personality who fell in love with him incredibly quickly, and for no apparent reason.

Overall, wasn't impressed, but if he redoes this as a series I'd be willing to check it out.

And I couldn't help but laugh anytime a character pulled out a gun, since it was so painfully obvious that Kishi traced the models

Hahaha, well, I do agree with you one some points. It did all seem very rushed, but most oneshots are. I liked the concept, but not the outline. Does that make sense? I dunno...

Tbh I also didn't really like it that much either. It must've probably been because it was such a short story but the characters just felt empty to me. There wasn't really any depth in any of them. The only things we got to find out about were the facts that his mother died at an early age and that her foster father had raped her and then got killed by her. Another thing which bugged me was the fact that he really didn't plan to do anything against the fact that she was about to be taken advantage of by that fatass, he did show some concern but that was just it. There was one strange thing too though; why the heck did the story have such a horrible ending? Mario could've gotten himself out of the pinch he was in in GTA style and he could've gone into refuge as well along with Saori.

Saori, how did she do it to fall in love with a guy within seconds after she supposedly hates men that much? Or did him giving het those earrings really have that much of an impact on her? If that was it then I think it was waaay too simple. But, this was a one shot after all so there's really nothing that could be done.

There was also the element of sexual content. This is a one shot that is definitely not fitting for underaged kids. If Kishi were to decide to continue this manga or to base a new manga out of this one I think he should make it less explixit unless he plans to make it a Seinen.

I did like the element of romance in this one though. This shows that Kishi does give a lot of importance to the fact that his main character should be able to find love.

@NK Saori was unlike any other girl in Naruto

NNHG I REALLY LIKED THIS THOUGH.

In my opinion, I thought he did a good job for it just being a one shot.
FRIGGEN, "WHAT IS THIS TRAGIC ROMANCE" I am so sad. Damn it...

The moment Saori was introduced I had a feeling it'd be some kind of romance type thing

Oh Kishimoto, you

Oh, I knew it as well. I was like main guy... and now they're bringing in a super pretty chick? Kishi, I see what you're doing. It was tragically romantic, and I know it was a bit rushed, but he did have a page limit he had to abide by so I'm sure he just did the best he could. I don't want to hear about how Kishi won't write romance though, as many people blabber about.

Kishi has already proven countless times that he loves writing romance: MinaKushi, YahiKonan, ObiRin, TsuDan

Although they all ended up in a tragedy.

Could the same fate be awaiting for our NaruHina? Or could it be Kishi will hold back this time around and give it a happy ending? The thing is that it will definitely be a first for Kishi.

At least the Ino-Shika-Cho parents have success stories. Haha, Naruto is the main character, I'd hate to see something tragic happen.

All of them

allllll of them
all tragic, maybe NaruHina almost had it's tragic end when she confessed her love to Naruto? Hopefully Kishi wont kill her, Naruto has already suffered too many losses..

Or god forbid Naruto dies

Oh, you.

Anyways, back on the topic of Mario. I thought it was supposed to be multi-chapter, so I was a little surprised when it came out as a oneshot.

Well, it came out 1-2 days before I posted it, but there was talk of it before. It wasn't known for coming out as a oneshot though. There is talk about Kishi's next manga being a baseball manga. Sounds like a waste, since I really love his style. Baseball manga stories never really entice me.

Re: Kishimoto's 'Mario'

Ahhh, I heard Kishi wanted to be a professional baseball player, so that would make sense if he is planning on doing that.. I'll give it a shot, though I'm the same as you, anything sport related as far as manga/animes go, never really entices me. (as it isn't an interest to begin with)

But it makes me sad to think about, I know this is kind of selfish of me, but hearing this news about everything makes me really think Kishi is planning an end for Naruto soon. I'm worried that maybe he feels done with the story, maybe feels like rushing it to the end... I mean, it has been so long.

But, I'm definitely a fan of Kishis work, and with whatever he writes I seem to really like. Ahhhg, really conflicted, I just love Naruto so much. So so much. It has helped me out of so many rough times in my life. In fact during my last year of high school I kind of stopped paying attention for academic reasons, and I didn't pick it back up until 2011. I didn't think I was going to, I just had lost all interest in everything. But when I started up again, I became instantly obsessed like I was back in middle school even. Kind of awakened my life again, dragged me out of a depression that cast me down so low mainly because after high school you tend to lose all your friends, but not only that because of social anixety my friends started turning their backs on me, and then I ended up with Avoidant personality disorder. Naruto let me feel excitement and happiness again, it really is like my life saver, when it ends I feel so hopelessly lost LOL So I am so worried about the end of it, CRIES I FEEL LIKE CRYING I'M SUCH A SOFTY. GOODBYE
